AMY LIU (Ph.D., Emory University, 2009) joined the faculty at the University of Colorado in 2009 after receiving her Ph.D. from Emory University. Her area of scholarly interest is comparative politics, with an emphasis on language regimes, political institutions, and Southeast Asia. Amy’s dissertation, The Politics of Language Regimes, focuses on why governments concentrate, share, or neutralize linguistic powers. Her other current research projects include the choice of language regimes during state building, the effects of political institutions on language regime choice, and the effects of language regimes on economic development.
